Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do you accept _________________ insurance?
No. I do not accept any insurances, and I am classified as an out-of-network physician. You are responsible for the full cost of the service, regardless of your insurance coverage. Telehealth appointments are billed at the same rates as in office appointments.
Q: Why did my insurance company directory list you as in-network?
I know it can be frustrating when insurance directories are inaccurate. Because I previously accepted many insurance plans at other practices in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC, my name may still mistakenly appear as an in-network provider. I can assure you that at Resonance Psychiatry, I am no longer contracted with those plans.
Q: What if I have a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) health plan?
Some insurance providers will cover out-of-network services, but the submission of the claim to insurance is the patient's responsibility. In these cases, you will be provided with the information you need to submit a claim, called a "superbill." The practice does not have control over the allowable amount or reimbursement rate that your insurance sets. It is your responsibility to engage with your insurance provider to fully comprehend your policy.
More information about navigating this process can be found in the Out-of-Network Reimbursement handout.
Social Media Policy
To prioritize your confidentiality and avoid dual relationships with patients, I do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former patients on any social networking platforms (such as Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.). Secondary connections blur the lines of the patient-physician relationship and can have negative impacts on treatment outcomes.
I kindly ask that patients honor this boundary and refrain from reaching out to me through social media, including private messages. If you receive any messages through these platforms that appear to be from me or Resonance Psychiatry, please disregard them. These are likely scam or phishing accounts since I exclusively utilize professional channels to communicate with current and former patients.
Online Reviews
Because of my legal and ethical responsibilities, I cannot:
-
publicly respond to online reviews (opinions are protected by the First Amendment),
-
seek removal of a review through formal processes if it requires sharing confidential patient information, or
-
contact reviewers directly if they are identifiable to request removal of the review.
While some reviews may contain inaccuracies, protecting patient confidentiality will always take priority, even at the expense of a physician or clinic's public image.
I genuinely value the concerns raised by patients, colleagues, and community members. I encourage anyone who has experienced a negative situation or has other concerns related to Resonance Psychiatry to reach out to me directly at any time. You can contact me via phone or email (support@respsy.com), or through the patient portal if you are a current patient.
